5g Jig Head Mini Fish Head Hook 1g-5g

Product Details

This 5g jig head is a mini fish head hook made to match small soft worm and grub baits, and the same head also comes in 1g, 2g, 3g and 4g. Small jigs like these are the core of light lure fishing: they cast well on a light rod and thin line, sink at a natural pace and let a small soft bait move freely in the water.

The fish-shaped head gives the rig a baitfish profile, with the head and soft body reading as one small fish. Pair it with a curly tail grub for a steady swimming action, or a slim worm for a slower, subtle drop. Thread the bait from the nose so it sits straight against the head and the hook point comes out in the middle of the back.

Weight choice decides how the jig fishes. The 5g head is the all-round size: heavy enough to cast into a breeze and reach the bottom in moderate depth, yet still light enough for a slow lift-and-drop. Go down to 3g or 4g for shallow water and a slower fall, and use 1g or 2g in very shallow or calm water, under docks or along weed edges, where a slow-sinking bait draws the most attention.

Fish it on a slow, steady retrieve just off the bottom, or cast out, count it down to the depth you want and then hop it back with short lifts of the rod tip. Most takes come as the jig falls, so keep the line tight enough to feel a tap and set the hook with a short, firm sweep. Small jigs are easy to lose in snags, so carry a few spares of each weight and retie with a fresh knot after every snag or big fish.
