Fish Scale Remover Stainless Steel

Product Details

This fish scale remover is a stainless steel scale scraper with a plastic handle, offered in a small or a big size. It strips scales from your catch faster than a knife and with less mess, and it can also help lift skin when you prepare fish for the pan.

Lay the fish flat and hold it firmly by the tail. Work the scraper from tail to head, against the lie of the scales, with short, firm strokes. The stainless steel scraper catches the scale edges and flicks them off, and the handle keeps your knuckles clear of fins and the board. Do the job under running water or inside a large bag to stop scales flying around the kitchen. Choose the small size for small and medium fish and tight spots near the fins, or the big size to clear a large fish quickly. Stainless steel resists rust, so rinse and dry it after use and it is ready for the next catch.

• Stainless steel scraper head removes scales fast and resists rust
• Plastic handle gives a firm grip with wet hands
• Choose a small size for small fish or a big size for large fish
• Faster and safer than scaling with a knife
• Also helps with skin removal when you prepare fish

It is as it looks, but the plastic seems flimsy. I have improved it by screwing a wooden plank to its backside along its entire length and making it longer. I have already tried it with soft-scaled fish and apparently it works well. I still need to test it with more demanding fish with hard scales.
