A plain original colour head lets the soft bait carry the colour, so one jig head suits any bait in your box. Use 5.7g for shallow water and a slower fall, or 10.5g for longer casts and deeper water. Thread the bait up the crank bend so it sits straight, then hop it along the bottom or swim it back with short pauses.
