This frog lure hook is a barbed double hook made from high carbon steel, with a U shape and a chicken-claw bend, and it is sold as a lot of 10 pieces. It is built to rig frog lures, where two points ride up along the back of the body and the U shape keeps them spread wide on each side.

A frog is fished across weed beds, lily pads, mats and other thick cover, and the hook has to do two things at once. It must stay tucked against the body so it does not snag on every stem, and it must still find a fish when the strike comes. The double hook rides with its points turned up, close to the body, so it slides over cover. When a fish crushes the frog, the body squashes down and the two points come clear to bite.

The chicken-claw bend turns the points slightly in, which helps them grip as you set the hook. The barbs then hold through the head shakes and the drag out of the weed, which is where many fish come off. High carbon steel takes the strain of a hard hook set on strong line.
