Slow Sinking Hard Bait 4.5cm 5g

Product Details

This slow sinking hard bait is a 4.5cm, 5g minnow made for long casts with light tackle. It packs a lot of weight into a very small body, so it flies further than most baits of this size, and it then sinks slowly, which gives you time to work it high in the water or let it settle deeper.

A slow sink rate is a big advantage with small lures. The bait stays in front of the fish for longer, it falls with a natural, gentle wobble, and it does not crash straight to the bottom and into snags. Cast it, count it down to the depth you want, and start the retrieve. Next time, count longer or shorter until you find the fish.

For a natural look, wind slowly and steadily so the minnow swims with a tight wobble. To draw a reaction bite, give the rod tip short twitches with a pause between them: the bait darts, then sinks a little on the pause, which is often when a fish takes. In current, cast across and let the flow swing the bait round while you wind just fast enough to keep contact.

Its small size matches fry and young baitfish, so it is a good choice in clear water, on pressured spots, in small rivers and streams, and whenever fish feed on tiny prey. Use a light spinning rod and thin line to get the most distance and feel. Sold as 1 piece.

• 5g in a 4.5cm body casts long for its size
