This soft insect fishing bait copies the shape of real flies and bugs in a soft body, made for stream fishing and for small fish that feed on insects. Each lot holds 10 pieces, so you can try several spots and still have spares after snags.

Insects make up a big part of the daily diet of many small fish in streams, creeks and ponds. Flies, beetles and other bugs fall from overhanging trees and grass, land on the surface or drift down in the current, and fish rise or turn to take them. A soft simulation of that food gives a natural target that looks and feels right when a fish takes it, so it is less likely to spit the bait before you strike.

Soft baits also last far longer than live insects. You do not need to catch or keep bugs alive, and one bait can take several fish if you unhook carefully. Keep a few in your pocket and you are ready whenever you see fish rising.

Fish it on light tackle so the small bait can move naturally. Use a fine line and a small hook, and add a tiny split shot only when you need to get the bait down in faster water. In streams, cast upstream or across and let the current carry the bait down past rocks, undercut banks and the seams between fast and slow water, where fish wait for food to drift past. Keep slack under control so you see or feel the take. In still water, cast near weed, reeds or overhanging branches, let the bait settle, then give it small twitches so it looks like a struggling insect. A light float set shallow is another simple way to hold the bait in the zone and show bites clearly.
