This soft plastic frog lure is a modified 14g simulation frog with double hooks, built to cast long and rise to the surface. It is made for snakehead, also known as black fish, which hunt frogs on top of shallow, weedy water.

A frog is one of the most exciting ways to fish. You see the take: a swirl, a splash or a sudden hole in the weed where the bait was. Snakehead hold under weed mats, pads, reeds and floating grass in warm, shallow water and watch for movement above them. A soft frog that rises and rests on the surface, then hops across the cover, looks like a real frog on the move, and the soft body feels natural when the fish clamps down on it.

Distance matters in this kind of fishing. Fish in shallow water are easy to spook, and the best spots are often far from the bank or the boat. At 14g this frog is built to cast long, so you can stay back, reach the far edge of a weed bed and work the bait through more water on each cast.

The double hooks ride along the body. Cast past the target, let the rings settle, then twitch the frog back in short hops with pauses. Stop it in every open pocket and along the edge of cover, where most strikes come. If a fish misses, keep the frog moving or let it sit; snakehead often come back for a second try.

When a fish takes, give it a moment until the frog goes under and the line pulls tight, then set the hook hard and lift the fish up out of the weed.
