Spider Soft Plastic Frog Double Hook 55mm 14g

Product Details

This soft plastic frog is a 55mm, 14g simulation spider frog with a double barbed hook, made for snakehead fishing. The spider legs add movement and the compact body gives a small, natural profile on the surface.

Snakehead hunt in shallow, warm, weedy water. They sit under weed mats, pads and grass and watch the surface for frogs, insects and small creatures that move above them. A soft frog worked over that cover looks like an easy meal, and the strike is often violent. The spider legs on this frog trail behind the body and flutter on every twitch and pause, so the bait keeps moving even when you stop it. That small, constant movement is what makes a fish commit.

The double barbed hook sits along the body, with the points riding up, so the frog can come over weed and pads without fouling as often as a bait with an open hook below it. The barbs help hold the fish once the hook is set.

At 14g the frog casts well for its 55mm size, so you can reach the far side of a weed bed or a pocket of open water. Cast past the spot, let the rings settle, then bring it back with short twitches and pauses. Walk it over thick cover, stop it in every open hole and let the legs settle. Snakehead often swipe at a frog more than once, so keep the bait moving after a miss.

When a fish takes, wait until the frog goes under and you feel the weight on the line, then set the hook hard and keep the rod high to pull the fish up and out of the weed.
