Whitebait Lure 7.5g (Pack of 3)

Product Details

This whitebait lure is a slim 7.5g metal jig made from zinc alloy and shaped for long casts. Whitebait and other small fry gather in tight shoals, and predators often feed on them hard; a small, narrow jig that looks like one of those little fish can be the lure that gets the bite when bigger baits are ignored.

At 7.5g the jig is light enough for an ultralight or light spinning rod, yet the dense metal body still flies a long way and cuts through wind better than a soft lure of the same size. That makes it a good choice when fish are breaking on the surface just out of range.

How to fish it: cast past the shoal, let the jig sink for a few seconds and then retrieve with a steady wind, adding a short twitch now and then so it darts like a fleeing baitfish. When fish sit deeper, let it touch the bottom and hop it back with small lifts of the rod, letting it flutter on a slack line between each lift. A fast retrieve near the top works when fish chase fry in the shallows.

The lot of 3 pieces gives spares, so a snag on the rocks does not end the session.

• Slim profile imitates whitebait and other small fry
• 7.5g weight suits light spinning rods and thin line
• Zinc alloy body is dense, so it casts long and sinks steadily
• Long cast design reaches shoals feeding out of range
• Darts on a twitch and flutters on the drop to trigger strikes
• Lot of 3 pieces gives spares for snaggy ground
