Wooden Shrimp Jig Big Eye 9.5g

Product Details

This wooden shrimp jig is a 9.5g squid jig with a wood shrimp body, a big eye and squid jig hooks. It is sold as 1 piece.

Shrimp jigs are the classic squid lure. The wood body is shaped like a shrimp, and the big eye gives squid a clear target to attack. Squid grab prey with their tentacles, so the hooks sit at the tail in a ring of fine points that catch the tentacles rather than the mouth. To fish it, cast out and let the jig sink close to the bottom. Then give two or three sharp upward snaps of the rod and let it glide back down on a tight line. Squid often take it as it settles, so watch for a pause or extra weight. When you feel it, lift steadily and keep the line tight, because squid can drop off a slack line. At 9.5g, it casts well from a harbour wall, pier or rocks.

• Big eye gives squid a clear point to attack
• Squid jig hooks catch tentacles, not the mouth
• 9.5g weight casts well from pier, rocks or harbour wall
